Enhanced autism services center is up and running in Irvine

Feb. 01--The new Autism Therapy and Disability Services Center operated by Easterseals Southern California is now open in Irvine, offering an enhanced environment for the more than 100 clients served daily.
The ribbon cutting at 1063 McGaw Ave., was held Thursday, Jan. 31.
A refurbishing of the two-story space includes more than 12,000 square feet dedicated to autism services and a variety of features for clients with special needs. Among the highlights:
* A therapy kitchen to teach cooking skills
* Two exploration and discovery gyms with increased space and more equipment for physical therapy
* Technology that allows parents to view their children's therapy sessions from a tablet in another room
* Additional meeting and work space for individual therapy sessions, group therapy, training programs and visiting service providers
The mixed-use facility serves all ages and also houses the corporate headquarters of Easterseals Southern California.
"We are proud that our new Autism Therapy and Disability Services Center will enable us to provide more than 1,000 clients yearly with important services, from physical and speech therapy to building social skills," said Mark Whitley, president and CEO.
